ESPN Front Row Talks with Frenchy

Frenchy and Monday Night Football go way back. Ten years back! When creating live action paintings of MNF you can find Frenchy on ESPN’s set or on the field, absorbing the kinetic buzz of the scene and transferring it to the canvas. The tables have turned and this time he is the subject of their gaze.  Allie Stoneberg from ESPN Front Row, a blog taking a look at the action behind the scenes of the storied sports network, took some time to talk with Frenchy about his history with ESPN and some of his favorite moments.

Captures Creative for HooDoo Lounge

August 12, 2013 – New Orleans, Louisiana. HooDoo Lounge Grand Opening features art design by Frenchy. Performance painter, Frenchy, teamed up with Harrah’s Casino New Orleans once again by lending art and design direction to the new HooDoo Lounge, which will reside in the the Casino. He was part of the creative vision of the restaurant producing the main interior art work for the walls, table tops, blackjack tables and other items throughout the restaurant. His design brings the vibrant culture of New Orleans inside the walls of the casino.

On Friday, August 23rd the HooDoo Lounge will have their grand opening and Frenchy will be on hand to capture the event live on canvas in his trademark style.

Frenchy has led a colorful and dynamic ride with stops at concert venues and sports stadiums all over the globe. Based in the talent-rich city of New Orleans , Frenchy is an ambassador to the arts and a bastion of creativity.

His presence fills venues both large and small with an explosion of creative spirit. Frenchy captivates onlookers with his artistry in motion –- painting events in real-time as they unfold before him. His performance is captivating and its end-result is awe-inspiring.

Since 1997, Frenchy has called New Orleans his home and his muse. The vibrant local music scene pushes the artist’s creativity and expressiveness to new limits. And he has branched out further by tapping into the city’s sporting events -– ranging from weekly Saints game as the “official team artist” to Super Bowls and NCAA Championships. During Mardi Gras season he can be seen marching in parades, painting onto to canvas while other toss beads.

NBA All-Star Weekend in Houston

NBA: All-Star Weekend: Frenchy Creates Painting for David Stern Retirement on Behalf of NBRPA
NBA All Star Weekend | February 14th – 17th, 2013 | Houston, Texas

The National Basketball Retired Players Association and Frenchy began their relationship last year during the NBA All Star Weekend 2012 in Orlando, Florida. Frenchy produced paintings the entire weekend, creating three in the Members Lounge at Disney’s Dolphin Hotel and yet another at a press conference featuring Julius “Dr. J” Erving.

To continue the relationship, the NBRPA thought Frenchy would be the perfect candidate to take part in a retirement gift presentation to David Stern. On the evening of Friday, February 15 2013 Frenchy was on-hand in the ballroom at the NBA Retired Players Hotel, which is the host venue for all NBRPA events and activities. There he produced a live painting featuring David Stern and Magic Johnson commemorating the moment Stern presented Johnson with the 1997 NBA MVP Award.
On Saturday, Feb 16th Frenchy’s special painting would be presented, in person, to the retiring NBA Commissioner on behalf of the National Basketball Retired Players Association.
