Live Paintings from the 2013 Telluride Jazz Fest

As promised, Frenchy was all up in the Telluride Jazz Festival producing a series of paintings across Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Friday night gave Frenchy the honor of painting jazz guitarist, John Scofield & Uberjam.

Despite a damp Saturday at the festy he was able to create a painting of the venerable Dr. Lonnie Smith during the Festival’s Honoree Set.

The party kept on going Saturday night as Frenchy met up with friends and fellow NOLA locals, The New Orleans Suspects at the historic Sheridan Opera House in Telluride.

The weather rebounded on Sunday and Frenchy kicked it into high gear as he was able to produce three live paintings that included a 1-2 punch from N’awlins natives in The Stooges brass band and another one with the New Orleans Suspects. Frenchy closed out the festival by capturing the jammed out funk vibes of Galactic with Corey Glover.

Here are the paintings from the weekend …

The Treme Brass Band are living, breathing history; a moment captured in time. They are a marching brass band similar to what you would experience in the French Quarter of New Orleans at the turn of the 20th century. They are pure Louisiana and this piece, by Frenchy, captured just down the street from his gallery at the storied Maple Leaf Bar is about as close as you can get to N’awlins without being there.
