As NOLA rallied in the face of the BP Gulf oil disaster of 2010, Frenchy was there at the Gulf Aid Benefit. He and performers such as Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, Kermit Ruffins, and the Honey Island Swamp Band were able to raise over $300,000 for the wetlands and fishing industry, the life’s blood of their beloved Louisiana. They were also joined by New Orleans ex-pats Anni DiFranco and Lenny Kravitz. Frenchy was able to create a live painting of R&B superstar, John Legend:
