Frenchy to Paint Season Opener at Tulane’s New Yulman Stadium
This Saturday (9/6) at 3 p.m., Tulane University football will christen the new Yulman Stadium with a season opener home game against Georgia Tech.
And Frenchy will be there to memorialize the sentiment as the Green Wave plays their first game on its Uptown campus since 1974. Fan fervor should be at its finest, as tickets to this game sold out within 20 minutes!
Gambit writes, “The 30,000-seat Yulman Stadium is the culmination of years of planning and hustling for private donations, which financed construction of the new stadium. After several decades of playing home games at the Superdome, the Green Wave will return to the Tulane campus, a final piece in a feverish effort to rebuild what had for years been a mediocre football program into the power house that Tulane football once was.”
This is a first-time collaboration between Frenchy and Tulane, but Frenchy is no newbie to live action football paintings. From the 2014 Superbowl to Monday Night Football in Denver to several ESPN appearances to his History of the New Orleans Saints, this guy’s got some field cred.
500 limited edition serigraphs of the painting, which will encompass Yulman Stadium, the Tulane campus skyline and VIP alumni and guests, will be available for pre-sale purchase at the commencement of the game, 50 of which will be special artist’s proofs.
