The NFL isn’t the only professional athletic organization Frenchy has a history memorializing. He began working with the National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA) in 2012 during the NBA All Star Weekend in Orlando, Florida. His next engagement with the NBRPA was to produce a congratulatory painting as a gift for then retiring NBA Commissioner, David Stern, in 2013. Frenchy is thrilled to continue his relationship with the NBRPA as he’s been invited to paint their Legends Philanthropy Awards Gala!
On Saturday, November 21, Frenchy will attend this special event at the Mohegan Sun Casino and Resort in Connecticut to commemorate the gala in his renowned style, no doubt transferring the energy of the event and the attendees, including some remarkable athletes, to canvas.
The gala is part of a 3-day weekend of events for the NBRPA and will raise funds for the children and grandchildren of professional basketball players to have access to higher education, and feature legends of the sport, including Jalen Rose, Lenny WIlkens, Rick Barry, John Starks, Dave Cowens, Calvin Murphy, Spencer Haywood, Teresa Weatherspoon and Jo Jo White.
Frenchy’s finished painting of the gala will be auctioned live at the event.
